Rectification: The Art of Time!
Everyone who has tried their hand at Jyotisha knows that an accurate birth time is more likely to give an accurate result. But how do you know if the time is correct? When is it useful, or even necessary, to change the birth time? What if the given birth time has an Ascendant that falls right at the beginning or the end of a Rashi, which is a common occurrence, how do we determine which chart to use? Moreover, once we have established an Ascendant how do we narrow down the field in order to utilize time sensitive techniques of prediction and interpretation?

Come join us for a weekend of step-by-step, no-nonsense instruction in how to get to a correct birth time through the organization and application of time-tested techniques!
This is an advanced seminar, which is only open to students who have completed the Intermediate Jyotisha course with Hart deFouw. This seminar requires a background in Yoga, Bhava, Dasha and Amsha analysis.

In this course you will learn:

  • Insightful techniques for determining which Ascendant a person really has

  • How to use Amshas for both wide range and precision time rectification

  • How Dashas are a core component of rectification

  • How to tailor your Jyotisha software to expedite and support your rectifying skills

  • How to collect the correct information you need to rectify a chart

  • Instructor: Steven Highburger
    Dates: Two day seminar Saturday & Sunday January 19 & 20, 2008
    Time: 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    Cost: $150 payable by January 4, 2008 ($175 thereafter)

Five Great Souls (Or Not): Insightful Astrology Seminar!
If you're doing or learning Vedic astrology, you've come across five astrological patterns said to mark a great soul. Known in Sanskrit as a Pancha-Maha-Purusha Yoga, such a pattern often excites astrologers and through them, their clients. Rama, an incarnation of God in Hindu belief, had one.

More often than not, visions of riches, royalty, and refinement start to dance in people's head on discovery of even one signal for a great soul as seen in a horoscope. But will a full "punch" lie in every Pancha-Maha-Purusha Yoga, or will a singular pattern in an individual's horoscope take the juice out of the punch?

We look forward to seeing you in this one-of-a-kind seminar, where you will learn:

  • How to stop the madness of false promises promoted by wrong astrological analysis.

  • The meaning of a "great soul" in the context of Vedic astrology and Pancha-Maha-Purusha Yoga.

  • A trustworthy map of what genuine Vedic tradition says about Pancha-Maha-Purusha Yoga's design and thrust, singly or as a group.

  • Those constellations on the eastern horizon at someone's birth that strongly support the advent of a great soul.

  • The wider implication of "great soul"—why even dictators join saints, athletes, entertainers, and social reformers in the Pancha-Maha-Purusha club.

  • Why some Pancha-Maha-Purusha Yoga bearers fail the test of membership in the great soul club.

  • How the wedges of the local sky at the place of a great soul's birth predict the extent and arena of their soulfulness.

  • Other cool astrological patterns that use the great soul combinations as a stepping stone to amazing human states and events.

  • If you like and are serious about Vedic astrology a notch above the rest, come to this event!

This seminar is open to anyone with a background in the basic building blocks of Jyotish: Rashis, Grahas, Dignities, Aspects and Dashas.

    Instructor: Penny Farrow
    Dates: April 12th and 13th, 2008
    Time: 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Cost: $150 due by April 1st ($175 thereafter)

Thank You Bette Timm, Vedic Vidya Institute's Past Vice President

Bette Timm served as Vice-President of Vedic Vidya Institute since its inception four years ago. We're happy to report that Bette's career continues to flourish on several fronts within the Vidya.

Thank you Bette for your time. We wish you well!
Welcome Bryan Tarin, Vedic Vidya Institute's New Vice-President
Bryan Tarin has lit up Vedic Vidya Institute for the last three years with his attentive presence.

Before moving to the Bay area in 2004, Bryan and his wife founded and ran a successful center in Bryan's hometown of Albuquerque. There, in the shade of New Mexico's Sandia Mountains, they integrated yoga, acupuncture, and massage therapy for appreciative clients.

Taking the Institute's three-year Yoga Sutra series dramatically heightened Bryan's insight into yoga. He now continues to woo sacred knowledge in diverse forms: Vaastu, Sanskrit, Jyotisha, and Hasta Samudrika. While building his blossoming consulting practice, Bryan also leads independent study groups in San Rafael, California. Testimony to his progress, Bryan has been assisting Hart deFouw with The Jyotisha Trilogy for the past two years.

In leisure moments, Bryan spends time with his wife, Christina, and the dog in their lush garden, where they tend the herbs, vegetables, and favorite chili peppers that grow plentifully, thanks to northern California's climate.
